My Approach
I am a counsellor with a private practice and I have worked as a consultant to the voluntary sector in the UK doing training and development.
I have a background in adult education, training, consultancy to individuals, groups, teams and organisations. I worked in secondary education for many years with a strong interest in the pastoral care of pupils and staff. I was a Year Head and Head of Careers.
I worked for ICI as a Training Manager – my responsibilities included the enabling of workers whose jobs were made redundant to think about career-change.
I hold a degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Kent at Canterbury and a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the University of Liverpool which had a strong consultancy element, both theory and practice. In addition I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and another in Counselling Theory and Practice.
My theory base for counselling is primarily Person Centred although I use some of the Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Psychoanalytic techniques and theories, if these seem to be relevant and helpful.
I am in regular supervision, and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework, and can assure you of a professional, sympathetic, approach.
I live in the Reading Area with my husband I have two grown up daughters, a grand-daughter, and three grand-sons. I have personal experience of dealing with family members who have learning difficulties.
My charge for counselling is £55.00 an hour for individuals and £70.00 an hour for couples.
I keep some spaces for those unable to manage this fee, subject to discussion. I work in the strictest confidence
